That’s how long Millie and Sadie have been waiting… watching other dogs leave, hearing kennels open and close, hoping each time it might finally be their turn. And somehow, it never is. They came in as housemates, and we tried so hard to find them a home together. It hasn’t happened. So now we’re asking… begging, really… please don’t let them spend another day here.

They don’t need anything fancy. Just a home. A soft place to land. A person who will see past the gray in their faces and realize there is still so much love left in these two hearts. They can go together, or separately. At this point, what matters most is that they get out. That they get a chance.

Because 100 days is a long time to wait to be chosen. Meet them during adoption hours, Monday-Friday 11am-4pm.

Meet Ember… part cat, part tiny dramatic actress, full-time attention enthusiast

At just 1 year old, this gorgeous girl has perfected her signature move:

“Excuse me? Yes, hi. I require pets immediately.” Ember is a professional conversationalist who will happily chat about your day, her day, the weather, and why you stopped petting her 3 seconds too soon. She’s got opinions, personality, and a heart that’s ready to stick to you like fur on black pants.

She’s here for the cuddles, the companionship, and making sure you never feel alone (or quiet) again. If your home is missing a little sparkle and a whole lot of love… Ember is ready to move in and take over. Meet her at the Charles County Animal Care Center.

Noah is a 3-year-old gentleman who comes fully equipped with house manners, a few impressive commands, and a heart that just needs a proper warm-up stretch. Think of him like a shy actor on opening night… a little unsure at first, but once he knows his audience loves him, he gives a full award-winning performance of loyalty and companionship.

He’s good with kids 3 and up, seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, and prefers the indoor life where the couches are soft and the snacks are plentiful. Cats? Unknown. He’s never had the pleasure, so introductions would need to be handled like a cautious first date.

Noah also has a very serious hobby: toy destruction. If it squeaks, squishes, or claims to be “indestructible,” he accepts that as a personal challenge. Tough toys only, please. He’s got standards. Once Noah bonds with you, he’s the kind of dog who wants to be your shadow… your loyal, slightly oversized, fur-covered shadow. The kind that follows you from room to room like, “Just making sure you don’t get lost in your own house.” If you’ve got a little patience at the start, Noah will repay you with a lifetime of devotion, companionship, and probably a few demolished toys along the way. She depends on her human for comfort and will need a family that will help her become more confident! Due to an incident in her previous adoptive home, we would not recommend Blanca be adopted into a home with other dogs, cats or small animals. She is extremely timid, and young children may frighten her.
